I run a small private teaching practice. I am the only person who reads what you send me. This page explains what I collect, why, and what happens to it.
What I collect
When you apply. Your name, email, phone number if you give it, the neighbourhood or borough you're in, how you prefer to be contacted, your answers to the questions in the application, and the days and hours you're available.
When you become a student. Notes I take during lessons — what you said, what you got wrong, what we worked on. This is how the teaching works; the notebook is the method. I also keep a record of sessions taken, package purchases, and payment dates.
I don't record lessons. No audio, no video, no automatic transcription. What exists is my handwriting.
When you visit this site. Standard analytics: pages viewed, how long you stayed, roughly where in the world you are, what kind of device you used. I use this to understand whether the site is working, not to identify you.
I don't collect payment card details. Payment is by Zelle or bank transfer, handled by your bank and mine.
Why I collect it
The application exists so I can decide whether I'm the right teacher for you, and so you can decide the same about me. There are twelve to fifteen places; the questions are how I choose.
Lesson notes exist so the next lesson starts where the last one ended.
Nothing I collect is used for advertising. I don't sell, rent, or share your information with anyone for marketing purposes. Ever.
Who else touches your information
I use a small number of services to run the practice. Each one has its own privacy policy, and your information passes through them:
- Formspree — receives and stores the application form submissions
- Google Workspace — my email
- Lovable — hosts this website
- Cloudflare — manages the domain
- Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity — site analytics
- OpenAI — see the section below
About the AI tools I use
I use two tools built on OpenAI's platform. OpenAI is an American company; what passes through their platform is subject to their terms and privacy policy, and I don't control that.
Luma is a conversational practice tool for between lessons. It is entirely optional. Some of my students use it constantly; others don't want it, and that's fine. Choosing not to use it changes nothing about how I teach you.
If you do use it, what you type or say to Luma is processed by OpenAI. But what I see is only what you send me. Your conversations with Luma are between you and Luma. At the end of a session you can generate a transcript and send it to me, and if you do, I read it and the next lesson starts there. If you don't send it, I never see it — and I won't ask. Practising badly in private is the whole point of the tool.
The second tool helps me build your materials. To use it I describe where you are and what we've been working on, and I sometimes paste in my lesson notes or a transcript you've sent me. That means my notes about your progress — your errors, what you're finding hard, the context we've been practising in — pass through that platform, whether or not you ever use Luma.
I don't put your full name, your contact details, or anything you've told me in confidence into either tool. What goes in is language: what you said, and what you need next.
You can opt out of the second tool. I taught for years without it and I can prepare your materials by hand. Say so at any point, including after we've started, and nothing about your lessons changes except that they take me longer to prepare.
How long I keep things
Applications stay in my records for about a year, whether or not I accept you. If I don't accept you and you'd rather I delete it sooner, ask and I will.
Student records — notes, session counts, payment history — I keep while you're a student and for three years after, because tax records require it.
Transcripts you send me I keep while you're a student. Ask me to delete them at any point and I will.
Analytics data expires on the schedule set by those services.

- Ask me to correct something wrong
- Ask me to delete your information, except what I'm required to keep for taxes
- Ask me to stop contacting you
I'll answer within a few days. There's no form and no process — it's just me and an email.
Cookies
This site uses cookies for analytics only. No advertising trackers. Your browser can block them and the site will still work.
Children
This practice is for adults. I don't accept students under eighteen and I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under eighteen. If you're under eighteen, don't submit the application.
Changes
If I change this page I'll update the date at the top. Anything substantial and I'll tell current students directly.
